About Us

Matthew is a former competitive gymnast and upper level coach who became a Cirque du Soleil performer, and Ken is a former Penn State cheerleader and National Sports Aerobics Champion.

They met in 2005 while performing as acrobats for the Metropolitan Opera and both became interested in HandBalancing as a means of exploring how traditional elements of gymnastics (acrobatics, strength, and balance) would interplay with a marked diversity in size, weight and appearance.

Through their unique combination of innovative sculptural choreography and precision body mechanics, KENNiMATTix celebrates the versatility, power, and equilibrium of the human body.

Ken and Matthew's own separate challenges have led them on a journey of growth, motivation and inspiration. Their paths have brought them together to push their boundaries of creativity and artistry.

KENNiMATTix was highlighted in the finale during the Opening Ceremonies of the Gay Games 2006 in Chicago and opened for the late James Brown at the Diesel after party during 2006 Fall Fashion week in NYC. They also performed at the fund raising event for the "Only Make Believe" organization where Liz Smith from the New York Post billed them as "KENiMATTix (famed acrobats Ken Berkeley and Matthew Cusick)".
